Police seek ‘sweaty’ bandit

Newport Beach police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed a local bank Tuesday afternoon.

Dubbed the “sweaty back bandit,” police described the robber as a white male, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds with black hair and a black beard. Police said he was wearing a beige, long-sleeved button-up shirt with jean shorts and white tennis shoes when he walked into the U.S. Bank at 1515 Westcliff Drive.

He gave the bank teller a note demanding money and left with the cash.
