Rainbow Disposal will pick up trees Jan. 3 to 21

Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach residents don’t have to worry about changes to their trash-collection schedules this holiday season, but will need to watch the date if they want to recycle their trees.

Rainbow Disposal will collect Christmas trees placed on the curb Jan. 3 to 21. Trees must be cut down to 6 feet or less and all lights, ornaments and stands must be removed. Flocked trees are acceptable.

Residents with blue metal Dumpsters should place the trees beside it, not on top or in front.

Rainbow Disposal will also be recycling cardboard boxes. They must be flattened and placed beside trash carts, or inside Dumpsters.

Residents who wish to keep their trees longer than Jan. 21 can put the trees in the green waste collection cart or use one of their bulky item pickups to recycle the trees.

Huntington Beach residents also won’t need to move their cars Dec. 24 to 31 as street sweeping is canceled. There will be no make-up dates.

There will be no changes to street sweeping in Fountain Valley.
