Sutra seeks to become bar, nightclub

Share

Sutra in Costa Mesa is looking to demolish its kitchen and expand its lounge area.

The Planning Commission on Monday will discuss switching Sutra’s liquor license status from that of a restaurant that serves alcohol to a full-fledged bar and nightclub. Up for discussion is removing the food-service requirement and a revised floor plan that would tear out the kitchen and expand the lounge’s seating area.

Sutra opened in 2004 in Triangle Square.

According to Sutra’s website, the dining menu is “currently undergoing a facelift” and is temporarily unavailable. Sutra’s management could not be reached for comment.

The Planning Commission meets at 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 77 Fair Drive.
