Former Newport city attorney gets probation for DUI crash
Former Newport Beach City Attorney David Hunt received probation this week for his recent drunk driving conviction, according to court records.
Hunt, 54, of Santa Ana, pleaded guilty Monday to driving under the influence of alcohol, and was sentenced to three years informal probation, restitution, $390 in fines and three months of a first offender alcohol program, according to court records.
A second charge against Hunt of driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or more was dismissed.
Hunt was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in September, when he hit a parked car in Newport Beach about five minutes away from his new job at an Irvine-based firm Friedman Stroffe & Gerard, P.C.
