A Costa Mesa woman had her children taken from her after she was arrested in Laguna Beach on Saturday.

Abigail Wilson, 31, is facing charges of willful cruelty to a child, DUI and an excessive blood alcohol level, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and bringing a controlled substance into a prison or jail, according to police.

Police received reports around 8 p.m. Saturday that a suspected drunk driver was headed into town on Laguna Canyon Road. Before officers arrived at the scene, Wilson’s vehicle had crossed into opposing traffic and hit another vehicle, Sgt. Louise Callus said.

Wilson had three of her children in the vehicle, two of whom suffered minor injuries and were treated on the scene before being checked out at Mission Hospital Laguna Beach.

After no responsible party came forward for the children, they were taken to Orangewood Children’s Home.

The children’s father is a registered sex offender residing in Arizona.
