OC Mart Mix to celebrate anniversary, more openings

COSTA MESA — It’s not often that a business can celebrate a grand opening and a birthday party in a single week.

The OC Mart Mix, an indoor market in Costa Mesa with more than 30 eclectic tenants, plans to host an opening party for its recently launched vendors from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, and a celebration marking the market’s first year from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 26, according to the Mix Facebook page.

Both events will take place at the shopping center, 3313 Hyland Ave.

“With over 30 shops, the OC Mart Mix has become a marketplace where shoppers can get everything they need in one spot,” said Andrea Young, who spearheaded the organization of the market and now operates the Paper House.

“We strive to provide a unique shopping experience, where you can get foods, fashion and findings all under one roof,” Young continued in a prepared statement. “In the last year, since our opening, The Mix has become a destination for those who want to shop small, local businesses while at the same time, it has given entrepreneurs and trendsetters a venue to showcase their talents.”

The market opened Jan. 26, 2011, with the Paper House and a handful of other vendors, including Deer Lovely, We Olive, Portola Coffee Lab, Flourish, Alexander Gray, B. Candy, Mixed Greens and Fleur les Fete.

While the birthday event will celebrate all 32 Mix tenants, the grand-opening event will specifically showcase vendors that opened after September, including Organic to Green, Savory Spice Shop, Bauble, KCee G Boutique, Heirlooms and Hardware, Smocking Birds, The Pantry and Eva’s Trunk.

Vendor space within the market is leased to capacity with multiple vendors on a waiting list, said market spokeswoman Allison Olmstead.

The Cheese Shop, N’ice Gelato and Shuck Oyster Bar are also set to open in the first quarter of 2012, she said.
