Pegasus School third-grader Emma Joyce put her piano skills to the test Jan. 10 during a duet with the conductor of the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Emma joined Maxim Eshkenazy, who also serves as the assistant conductor of the Pacific Symphony in Costa Mesa, in a classical take on “Three Blind Mice” in four variations, which garnered a standing ovation from her peers and parents at the Huntington Beach school.

Eshkenazy and Daniel Wachs, the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra conductor and director of instrumental studies at Chapman University, also gave a presentation at the school where they performed Beethoven’s “Spring Sonata” and Camille Saint-Saëns’ “The Swan.”
