The Orange County Youth Sports Federation honors Angels pitcher Jered Weaver as the 2012 Sportsman of the Year at its 39th annual Sports Banquet at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa, 900 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach. 'An Introduction to La La La Human Steps and Edouard Lock'

The Irvine Barclay Theatre and the Claire Trevor School of the Arts Dance Department at UC Irvine present "An Introduction to La La La Human Steps and Edouard Lock," a free lecture by Philip Szporer, director/producer of Mouvement Perpétuel. The event is at 7 p.m. at UCI's Winifred Smith Hall.


'Money Matters'

A series of six lessons, to be given from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, will focus on Jewish Business Ethics in "Money Matters." The sessions are at the Chabad Jewish Center, 2865 E. 'The Inside Edge'

'Conversations on the Artistic Process'

The Claire Trevor School of the Arts at UC Irvine presents "Musical Composition as Experiment (and vice versa)," a free event in which various UCI academics will discuss their research. The event is from 5 to 6:15 p.m. in the Colloqium Room on the third floor of the UCI Contemporary Arts Center building.

PIMCO Chief at UCI

Mohamed A. El-Erian, chief executive and co-CIO of Pacific Investment Management Co., will give the inaugural UCI social sciences lecture at 6 p.m. in Pacific Ballroom C at the UCI Student Center. The event will be free and open to the public.
