A man who tried to intervene in a fight between a man and woman outside Costa Mesa’s Tiki Bar was stabbed multiple times, police said.

Ismael Sandoval, 26 of Costa Mesa, went outside the bar at 1700 Placentia Ave. to smoke a cigarette about 2:37 a.m. when he saw the disturbance and tried to intervene, but was stabbed multiple times, Costa Mesa police said.

Sandoval then called a friend who dropped him off at Hoag Hospital, where he was treated and released for wounds to his arm and chest, police said.
