Earla Styll obituary

Earla Marie Cann Styll, 82, a resident of Costa Mesa since 1958, passed away on March 21, 2012, to be with the Lord and the love of her life, who preceded her in death by four months.

She was a California native, and grew up in Alhambra with her parents, Earl Weston Cann, and Alice Genevra Fletcher Cann. She was voted Prom Queen in her senior year at Alhambra High School. She attended Pepperdine University, where she met her husband of 62 years, Marshall James Styll.

She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach, where she led many committees, and ran the annual rummage sale for many years, where all of the proceeds went to Missions on behalf of Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of Little Women’s Moving Van Club, Zeta Kappa Sorority, Pepperdine University Alumnae, PEO, the Walkie Talkies, National Charity League, and her weekly covenant group. She had a passion for playing games, but especially bridge. She learned as a child to play the piano, and their house was always filled with music from hymns to musicals! She loved to entertain and would open their house for parties, dinners, and holidays. Her smile lit up a room, and she had many wonderful friends. Earla’s greatest accomplishment, was her family.
