Arraignment set for murder suspect

A Fountain Valley man charged with murdering his fiancee is scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning.

Philip Ngoc Nguyen, 26, was indicted Tuesday on one felony count of murder with sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a firearm and the personal use of a firearm causing death, according to a release from the Orange County district attorney’s office.

Nguyen is charged with fatally shooting his fiancee, Uyennie Ton, on Feb. 25, 2011, during an argument over another woman with whom he was having a relationship.

He faces a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in state prison if convicted and is being held on $1-million bail. The arraignment is set for 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
