Two motorcyclists killed in separate weekend crashes
Two motorcyclists died after separate crashes in Huntington Beach this weekend.
About 10:37 p.m. Sunday, a 42-year-old man lost control of his motorcycle. He and a female passenger were thrown from the vehicle near Springdale Street and McFadden Avenue, according to a police statement.
The man has been identified as Travis Schumacher of Westminster, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
Schumacher died after he hit a tree. The 55-year-old woman landed in a parking lot on the west side of Springdale and was taken to a local hospital, authorities said. No other vehicles appear to have been involved.
About 10:09 a.m. Saturday, a motorcyclist collided with a BMW at Bolsa Chica Street and Pearce Drive.
The motorcyclist was identified as 66-year-old Buddy Clark of Westminster. He was taken to UCI Medical Center, where he died of his injuries at 1:31 p.m., according to the Orange County coroner’s office.
According to authorities, Clark was traveling south on Bolsa Chica while the 67-year-old female driver of the BMW was heading east on Pearce. The woman was uninjured. No arrests have been made or citations issued.
A cause for either crash has not been released.
