Video may show porch theft in progress

Huntington Beach resident Terry Burnham posted a video of an apparent theft from his porch to YouTube in hopes of gathering more information about the alleged crime.

The crime reportedly took place May 10 on Oceanridge Drive in the Brightwater community.

Burnham has filed a report with police, and officers have visited his home twice, but he said he doesn't know yet if they will be able to get a license plate number from any of the cars in the video.

Lt. Mitch O'Brien said there has been no increase in porch theft reports lately.

At the 2:50 mark on the video, a woman is seen getting out of a car and then running to the porch, grabbing some packages and running back to the car, which then drives away.

Burnham said he thinks there are three cars involved in the crime: a convertible that goes off camera, a VW bug and the car carrying the woman who grabs the boxes.

The items in the packages were ordered online and worth about $150, according to Burnham.
