No injuries reported in Mozambique fire

No injuries were reported after a small fire broke out Saturday afternoon at Mozambique in Laguna Beach.

The cause of the fire, which started around 3:34 p.m. behind a wall "in a subspace area on the second floor" of the restaurant at 1740 S. Coast Hwy., is still under investigation, Laguna Beach Fire Department Division Chief Api Weinert wrote in an email.

" of now it does not appear to be suspicious or related to the construction being done on site," he said. Damages are estimated at about $10,000, he added.

Four Laguna fire engines, a chief and a Orange County Fire Authority truck were at the scene, and put it out once they opened up the restaurant's wall to find the fire's exact location, according to Weinert.
