Clinton Calvin “Cal” Campbell, Jr.

Clinton Calvin “Cal” Campbell, Jr. went to be with his beloved wife Patsy in heaven on July 9, 2013.

Cal was born to Clint and Doris Campbell on February 24, 1937 in Pasadena, California. He graduated from John Muir High School and attended Orange Coast College. At the age of 19, upon the death of his father, Cal became the Owner/Operator of Holman and Powell Paving Company, in Los Angeles, CA, where he often paved movie sets at Universal Studios. He served our country in the Navy Construction Battalion Corps as a reservist. In 1963, he married Kathleen Merriman, and had three children, Molly Anne, Clinton Calvin, III, and Wendy Shea. His family and friends had many special times together at Crystal Cove. Ever the entrepreneur, he owned a liquor store, The Jolly Jug, in Tustin, CA until 1975, when the family moved to Bozeman, MT, to raise their children.

He worked in sales and later became the manager of the Bozeman Montgomery Wards Store. In 1982 he returned to California, and continued in sales. In 1988, he married Patricia Duntley and gained three more children, Amy, Curt, and Craig Mitchell. He and Patsy enjoyed many years of traveling and boating, which were his primary passions. In 2002, Cal received the gift of life with a lung transplant. Cal continued as a salesman until his retirement when, he moved to Spokane, WA to be near his daughters Molly and Wendy.

Cal loved being a father and grandfather. His kindness and gentlemanly ways were unmatched. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and quickly made friends wherever he went. He loved a good party, dancing, traveling, boating, cars and the beach. He was a proud supporter of the Lady Zags Basketball Team.

In his various communities, Cal served with the Elks Club, the American Legion, the Sourdough Fire Department, the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club, and most recently with the Spokane North S.C.O.P.E. office.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Patsy. He is survived by his sister Susan Matloff of Newport Beach, CA; his children, Molly and Kevin Nave of Spokane, WA, Clint and Kristi Campbell of Bozeman, MT, Wendy and Dennis Dougherty of Spokane, WA, Amy and Scott Cosper of Aliso Viejo, CA, Curt Mitchell of Costa Mesa, CA, and Craig Mitchell of Seattle, WA; His grandchildren: Ian, Anna, Campbell, Daniel, Erin, Stephen, Ashley, Stephanie, Catherine, Luke, Claire, Sean, Mitchell, Brian and David; his great grandchildren Noah and Abby and his niece Julie Conway.

Memorial Services were held on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Faith Bible Church, in Spokane, WA.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Beats and Rhythms PO Box 31522 Spokane, WA 99223, a non profit organization that provides support and summer camp for children with congenital heart disease.
He will be greatly missed.
