Man arrested on suspicion of stabbing another

A Whittier man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of stabbing a man and causing life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

Justin Paul Petruna, 30, was being held at Huntington Beach City jail on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, police said in a news release.

A stabbing was reported about 11:16 p.m. at the Out of Bounds Sports Bar, 21022 Brookhurst St.

Officers found the victim, who was treated by paramedics and transported to a local hospital for emergency surgery, according to the release.

Police eventually found Petruna "some distance away from the bar."

Authorities said the victim is in serious, but stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
