Share

Three Newport Beach homes in the same neighborhood were burglarized within hours of each other Tuesday, according to police.

Police found pry marks on front doors and said thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and other personal items had been taken, Newport Beach Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said.

Two of the homes were in the 100 block of Promontory Drive West, and the third was in the 100 block of Promontory Drive East, in the same residential development of apartments and town homes.

In all, $23,850 worth of jewelry and other personal items were stolen, according to police.

All of the burglaries took place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., police said, with at least one happening between 2:40 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.

Manzella said she couldn’t comment definitively on whether the burglaries are related.

“Our detectives will investigate thoroughly whether they’re connected or not,” Manzella said.

No suspicious person was seen or heard, she said.

Two more burglaries were reported Tuesday about three miles away on Woodburne in Newport, according to police, who did not provide further details.
