Police investigate teen fight

Two teenagers allegedly fought one another in an underground parking structure next to a group of onlookers Friday afternoon, Laguna Beach police said.

The 12- and 15-year-old girls, who live in Laguna Beach and Laguna Niguel, respectively, decided to fight one another over some name calling, police Sgt. Louise Callus wrote in an email.

Other kids heard about the fight and arrived to watch at 3:35 p.m. in the parking lot of a large shopping and business complex in the 1100 block of S. Coast Highway, police said.

The girls had minor redness and scratches.

Police are investigating the incident.

Student arrested on marijuana charge

A 15-year-old Laguna Beach High School student was cited Friday morning on suspicion of possessing less than an ounce of marijuana, Laguna Beach police said.

A campus supervisor saw a lighter fall out of a student's backpack and smelled marijuana at 11:14 a.m., Sgt. Louise Callus wrote in an email.

The supervisor took the girl to the vice principal's office, where administrators discovered the marijuana.

Laguna Beach police went to the school and cited the student for misdemeanor possession and released her to her mother.
