Blockbuster closings continue

It’s official: Blockbuster, after attempting to remain in business by shuttering locations and revamping its business model, has accepted a $290-million buyout and is closing more than 600 stores. Out-of-business sales begin this weekend at several area Blockbuster video locations, following many other closures over the past year. Up next for closure are nearby stores at 1200 Bison St., Newport Beach; 5511 Alton Parkway, Irvine; 3360 S. Bristol St., Santa Ana; and several other stores throughout the county.
