Murder suspect arrested after woman’s body is found in Talbert Regional Park in Costa Mesa

A 24-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of murder after a woman’s body was found in the brush at Talbert Regional Park in Costa Mesa, police said.

Costa Mesa police received a call at 7:10 a.m. from a man, later identified as Daniel Correa, who said he had found a woman’s body in the nature preserve at 1299 Victoria St., police said.

When officers arrived, they found the body of a 29-year-old woman with blunt force trauma. She was declared dead at the scene, police said.

The woman, whom police did not identify, was a transient from Massachusetts, authorities said.

Police arrested Correa, also described as a transient, on suspicion of murder. It isn’t clear how authorities connected him to the crime.

He is being held without bail in Orange County Jail in Santa Ana, police said.
