Homeless man on bicycle is struck and killed by vehicle in Huntington Beach

A 62-year-old homeless man riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday night in Huntington Beach, authorities said.

The man was riding south on Pacific Coast Highway near Seapoint Street at 10:20 p.m. when he crossed into the northbound lanes and was hit by a 2014 Honda CRV driven by a 72-year-old man from Huntington Beach, according to Sgt. Joshua Page of the Huntington Beach Police Department.

The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and suffered head injuries, Page said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.

Alcohol or drugs were not suspected as factors in the crash, and the Honda driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Page said.
