Suspects under arrest in shooting incident in downtown Huntington Beach Tuesday night

An investigation into a downtown Huntington Beach double shooting late Tuesday is ongoing, police officials announced Wednesday in a news release, adding there are no current threats to public safety.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire at around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday near 3rd Street and Walnut Avenue. Upon arrival, police located two adult men that had suffered gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a local hospital. Their conditions are unknown, but they are expected to survive their injuries.

During a vehicle stop near the crime scene later, police located and arrested five individuals who matched descriptions of the suspects, according to Huntington Beach Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Carey.

All were taken to the Huntington Beach Police Station for further questioning. Police did not confirm the names of the suspects.

Preliminary investigation indicates that there was an argument and physical altercation between two parties prior to the shooting.
