Raptors bite the bullet

Led by single goals from Jamie Heinecke and Ori Tabak, the Bullets

shut out the Raptors, 2-0, in AYSO Region 57 boys under-12 action.

The Bullets defense was led by Tommy and Camden Nicholson with

excellent efforts from Alex Mainthrow and Scott Berkhausen.

Raptors' goaltender Connor Bannan kept the game close with

excellent goaltending.


In girls under-12 play:

* Patriots 6, Shooting Stars 2

Propelled by a tough second-half defensive effort and a three-goal

game from Kathryn Conner, the Patriots defeated the Shooting Stars.

The Patriots didn't allow a second-half goal as A.J. Rome (two

goals) and Alexa Cohen (one goal) led the scoring charge for the


Lindsey Zotovich and Brittany Rovzar countered with goals for the

Shooting Stars.

Goalkeeper McKenna Caskey, Alix and Arianna Condon, Amanda

Garrett, Cali Conti, Marissa Morrill, Tess Crane and Casey Goldberg

held steady at defense and midfield for the Patriots.


In boys under-10 play:

* Green Gators 5, Patriots 4

The Gators mounted the comeback trail all day, but the Patriots'

Donald Dalton made it difficult for the Gators to break away, scoring

two goals for the Patriots in the loss.

Dalton scored one of his goals along with Hector Marino's other

net ball when the Patriots were down by two, and Dalton and Patrick

Pearson each scored to tie it, 4-4, before the Gators scored the


Christian Ball's presence in the midfield along with Adam Bronfin

and Kevin Hoffman helped Dalton and Pearson tie the game.

Patriots' goaltender Jeremy Fox saved many shots, but the Gators

proved too tough in the end.

* Vipers 4, Wolfpack 3

A second-half shutout along with Scott Youngman's game-winning

goal secured the come-from-behind win for the Vipers.

Blake Thomsen scored three goals and received help offensively

from Billy MacDonald, Tobi Isaksen, Saahm Aresh and Joe Ctvrlik.

Defenders Spencer Bruno, Sam Parks, Connor Morrill and the

goaltending of Justin Ruffalo stymied the Wolfpack in the second
