Sailors’ Walker selected MVP

Newport Harbor High senior forward Joel Walker, whose 35 goals this

season helped the Sailors win a share of the Sea View League title

and advance to the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs, has

been named Sea View League MVP by the circuit’s coaches.

Seniors Will Guzman, Matt Tracy and Skyler Taugher are also

first-team honorees from Newport Harbor, while seniors Chase Kelly

and Mike Gustafson are second-team picks.

Walker and Tracy were first-team all-league honorees as juniors,

while Kelly was a second-team selection in 2003.

The Sailors finished 16-7, 7-3 in league, the latter earning them

part of a tri-championship.
