The Orange County Coastkeeper is looking for volunteers as the
organization expands the number of creek sites it monitors in the
Huntington Beach area. A training session for new volunteers will be

Fourth of July board is seeking nominations for the 2004 Fourth of
July Centennial Celebration’s Community Grand Marshal. Candidates
must live or work in Huntington Beach and have participated in
volunteer or charity activities. Nominations may be mailed to the

Inventors Forum, a support group for inventors, will meet. The
meeting is for members only, but nonmembers may join at the door. The

The Treasures by the Sea luncheon will include celebrity
entertainment and a silent auction. Money raised will benefit the
Assistance League of Huntington Beach. The luncheon will be held from

“Social Justice Seen Through the Lens,” a film series, will be
hosted by Sts. Simon and Jude Church throughout the season of Lent.
The church will host a screening of the film “Romero,” about
Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador. The film will begin at 7 p.m.

Central Baptist Church will host Joe Dallas as he speaks on
“Sexual Integrity.” The 7 p.m. event will be held at the church, 7661

A child-fingerprinting event will be held at the Huntington Beach
City Hall. The event, sponsored by Assemblyman Tom Harman, is
scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon. City Hall is at 2000 Main St.

An Irish research seminar will be hosted by the Orange County
Genealogical Society. Professional genealogist Kyle Betit will
conduct the seminar. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. The

The Soroptimist International of Huntington Beach will host the
Making a Difference for Women Awards for 2004. The honorees for Woman
of Distinction are Barbara Huss and Dr. Jacqueline Cherewick. The
winner of the Woman Helping Women award is Ilona Miller and the
Advancing the Status of Women award will be presented to Rick
Ganulin. The 11:30 a.m. awards luncheon will be held in the Pacific
Room at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort located at 21100 Pacific

The SOS Investment Club meets regularly on the second Monday of
each month and is seeking new members interested in studying

Chapter of the National Assn. of the Physically Handicapped
provides disabled children and adults the opportunity to make their
lives become more vital to the community through providing
informative newsletters four times a year from National Headquarters.
It meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at
Wycliffe Gardens at 18765 Florida St. Anyone interested in becoming

The Clara Barton chapter
of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will

can prove lineal bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in
