Pitching propels Dodgers past Yankees

The pitching of Scott Butler and Michael Morrison propelled the

Dodgers to a 6-0 shutout of the Yankees in Majors Division play at

Seaview Little League.

The pitching duo received strong defensive backup from Kyle Soscia

and Shaun Thompson.

Cole Fraser tripled and singled, Butler doubled and singled and

Morgan Duffy had two hits to lead the Dodgers offense.

Soscia, Aaron Angiano and Jake Gordon each chipped in with a

single.

In Seaview Minor A Division action:

Marlins 20, Dodgers 11

The teams were tied, 8-8, after one inning, but Marlins relief

pitcher Scott Orel came on to limit the Dodgers to just three more

runs.

Wes Kobel delivered a pair of doubles and Jake Beardshear and

Brennan Fitzmartin each doubled for the Marlins.

Beardshear and Corey Hammond each finished with two hits.

Mitchell Grant, Johnny Watkins and Shay McAfee each had an RBI for

the Dodgers.

Angels 8, A’s 5

Christian Anderson belted a three-RBI triple to power the Halos.

Max Mayer doubled among two hits and Dylan Havlicheck had two

hits.

Starter Max Mayer recorded five strikeouts and reliever Jacob

Lesinski got the win.

The A’s starting pitcher, Kyle Curtis, had six strikeouts and

Wesley Krautkramer had an RBI double.

Cubs 8, Royals 7

Chase Leamer had five strikeouts and got the win in a relief

effort for the Cubs.

Matt Theide doubled twice, Riley Mailman had two hits including an

RBI triple and Jacob Likich had two hits.

The Royals got doubles from Perry Clitheroe, Colby Griffith, Nolan

Heyer and Steven Malone.

At Huntington Valley Little League:

Majors Division

Pirates 7, Diamondbacks 6

Nick Mazzone smacked a three-run home run and Josh Hufstetler hit

a two-run homer, both in the first inning, to send the Pirates on

their way to victory.

Angels 3, A’s 1

Julian Petrarca, Robby Olson and Jack Dilbeck all scored runs for

the Angels.

Pirates 14, Angels 2

Alex Ivans tripled and Daren Martinez had two RBI to pace the

Pirates.

Julian Herrera had two RBI to lead the Angels.

Pirates 6, Braves 0

Alex Talbert pitched three solid innings of one-hit ball for the

Pirates, who scored five of their six runs in the opening inning.

Dodgers 3, Angels 0

Garrett Keadle battled on the mound for five innings and allowed

just one run.

The Angels managed just three hits in the game, singles by Julian

Herrera, Wade Cardin and Jordan Herman, for a shutout by the Dodgers.

At Ocean View Little League:

Majors Division

Cubs 5, Dodgers 3

The Cubs rallied from three runs down to win.

Trailing 3-0 in third inning, the Cubs got their first run on

Jacob Conroy’s sacrifice fly. Two batters later, Sean Guite smacked a

double off the centerfield wall to drive in two runs and tie the

game.

Guite went on to score on a poor throw back to the pitcher, giving

the Cubs a 4-3 lead.

Jason Fernandez also singled in the inning.

The Cubs added a fifth run in the sixth inning on a single by Cody

Wilkinson, a walk to Ian Anderson and a wild pitch.

Guite pitched the final 4 2/3 innings for the Cubs, allowing only

one hit while striking out eight.

Cub catcher Jordan Miller picked a runner off at first base, and

the Cubs turned a pair of double plays in the game.

Fernandez had two hits to lead the Cubs.

Angels 12, Giants 8

Trey Gourdine went four for four with a pair of doubles and three

RBI to power the Angels.

Eric Wietzel and Blake Skorich each had three hits for the Halos.

Jeff Shenet hit a two-run home run and Brett Urabe went three for

four to lead the Giants.

In Minor B action:

Astros 10, A’s 8

Starter Tyler Hammock pitched three solid innings, striking out

the side in the third inning, and David Feirstein finished on the

mound, for the A’s.

Key hits came from the bats of Alex Harden, Jake Poss, Patrick

Poss, Conner Cassotta, Josh Said, Hammock and Feirstein led the A’s

on offense.
