No Square to auction Porsche

The No Square Theatre will raffle off a 1978 Porsche 911 Carrera SC

at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 31 at the Laguna Beach Police Department, 505

Forest Ave.

Police Chief Jim Spreine will pull the winning ticket out of the

hat box. Proceeds from the raffle will go to benefit No Square

Theatre, Laguna Beach’s oldest nonprofit community theater.

Raffle tickets are still available for purchase at $50 per ticket.

Clinic gets funds from cancer group

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has awarded more than

$66,000 in grant funds to the Laguna Beach Community Clinic.

The money will help to provide low-income and un-insured women

access to breast exams, breast health education, counseling and case

management. The grant money was made available after the 2004 Komen

Orange County Race for the Cure, which raised $1.5 million.

Twenty-five percent of the money raised from the event contributes

to the Komen Foundation’s National Award and Research Grant Program,

while the remaining 75% goes directly to breast cancer prevention and

treatment for Orange County women.

Conservancy holds first meeting of year

The Laguna Canyon Conservancy will hold the first dinner meeting

of the new year at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 3 at Tivoli Terrace, 650 Laguna

Canyon Road.

There will be a no-host bar at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be served

at 6:45 p.m. Dinner tickets are $10 for members, $15 for nonmembers

and can be purchased at the door with prior reservations.

The deadline to reserve tickets is Jan. 1. The conservancy is

accepting new memberships and yearly renewals, good through Dec. 31,

2005. Yearly dues are $10 per person and may be paid by check, made

out to Laguna Canyon Conservancy and mailed to P.O. Box 1383, Laguna

Beach, CA 92652.

Dues are also payable the night of the meeting. For more

Artists named to Plein-Air Painters

Laguna Beach artist Ken Auster has been chosen to be a signature

member of the Plein-Air Painters of America, a society of

professional artists recognized for their technique of painting on

location.

The opportunity to join the Plein-Air Painters of America is

invitation only. Auster is known for his surf art and works only with

oil paints, depicting life on the streets, urban restaurants and

coastal panoramas.

Alliance Francaise offers celebration

Alliance Francaise of Orange County will host a celebration of the

tradition of the three kings at 7 p.m. on Jan. 7 at the Villa Romana

Restaurant, 303 Broadway.
