RUMMY
Rummy is a black-and-white kitten with jade-colored eyes. Named
after the card game, this sweet female is polydactyl -- meaning she
has an additional toe on each paw. Also known as “Hemingway cats,”
polydactyls were made famous by the writer Ernest Hemingway, who bred
them in his Key West, Fla., home, which is now a museum that houses
many six-toed cats.
Rummy’s caregiver, Gena Bartrom, also volunteers with Pet
Pro-Life, a nonprofit rescue organization operating out of Petsmart
in Fountain Valley. Rummy is just one of the dozens of kittens and
cats from other rescue groups our network helps to find homes for
every year.
Rummy and her littermates -- Scrabble, who has a marble-Bengal
look; Checkers and Domino, both black-and-white; and Yahtzee, a tabby
-- as well as their jade-eyed mother, Mimi, are available for
adoption this Saturday and Sunday.
The Community Animal Network is a community-supported animal
organization linking people and pets through community action. See
other animals available for adoption at
