PTA Coffee Break topic ‘mindfulness’

The next PTA Coffee Break, from 8:15 to 10 a.m. on Jan. 17 at the Surf and Sand Hotel, will introduce parents to the Mindfulness Tool Kit, which teaches parents to help children minimize distraction and maximize focus.

The speaker, Susan Kaiser Greenland, is the founder of InnerKids. She will also discuss mindfulness training, including recent research at UCLA that shows how the training rewires new connections in the brain that lead to calmness and stress reduction.

SchoolPower seeks assistance

SchoolPower is seeking underwriters and auction items for its 2007 Annual Dinner Dance and Auction, scheduled for April 28 at the Montage Resort & Spa.

Last year, SchoolPower auctioned off vacation homes, artwork, sports tickets, electronics, clothes, fine wines, party venues, spa and beauty treatments, photography, entertainment and more. Underwriting helps cover the costs of the event, such as invitations and flowers.

All donations to SchoolPower are tax deductible; to make a donation, call (949) 494-6811 or e-mail info@lbschoolpower.com.
