Laguna Beach police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a man suspected of trying to kidnap a young boy at 7:25 p.m. Saturday from the vicinity of St. Catherine Church, 1042 Temple Terrace.

The boy told police that, while he was skateboarding near the church, an adult male in a vehicle stopped and asked if the boy wanted a dog. The man then allegedly told the victim to “come here,” in a forceful tone and reached out as if to grab the victim but could not. The boy fled and called police.

The suspect is described as Latino, about 35 years old, with short hair and clean-shaven. He was driving a four-door, older-model green Buick. The vehicle had three small dogs in the back seat.
