Goalie Huling sets Chapman saves record

Share

Laguna Beach High product Celia Huling enjoys saving the Chapman University women’s water polo team any chance she gets.

No one has ever done it more for the Panthers.

Huling, a sophomore, finished the just-completed season with 315 saves for Chapman, which broke the old school record of 250 and was third-best in the Western Water Polo Assn. She also holds the record for most saves in a single game, with 21 this season in a 9-2 win over Macalester College (Minn.).

Huling was a field player before she converted to a goalie her junior year for the Breakers. In her senior year of 2007, she helped Laguna reach the CIF Southern Section Division II title match and was selected third team All-Division II.
