Renowned local chef and restaurateur Pascal Olhats has opened a new namesake restaurant at Fashion Island, Brasserie Pascal. The authentic French bistro offers a fine dining experience in a casual environment.

To celebrate the grand opening, Brasserie Pascal is hosting a reception on Tuesday, July 14 -- the French national holiday Bastille Day -- from 5 to 7 p.m. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres and special wines from Crinella Winery for a $25 donation per person, to benefit the Newport Beach-based non-profit Literacy Project Foundation (LPF). At 7 p.m., Olhats is creating a specially priced Parisian three-course dinner for guests who wish to stay after the reception. For charity event reservations, call LPF at (949) 721-1319 and for dinner reservations call (949) 640-2700.

Located in the space formerly occupied by French 75, Brasserie Pascal is relaxed and authentic French bistro that opens at 11:30 a.m. daily and serves the same menu throughout the afternoon and evening. The menu features French classics that Olhats is known for, along with select favorites from French 75. Menu items include Beef Bourguignon (Beef Stew in Red Wine), Côte de Bœuf (Béarnaise and Truffle Sauce for Two) and Croque Monsieur (Warm Ham and Cheese Sandwich with Béchamel Sauce), among many other dishes.

Brasserie Pascal also has an extensive bar menu available all day. Items include French Onion Soup, Steak Tartar, and an Artisanal French Hot Dog, an all-natural beef hot dog served on a fresh baguette. A weeknight Happy Hour offers specially priced appetizers, wine, beer and cocktails from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“I am delighted to open my newest concept, Brasserie Pascal, at Fashion Island,” said Olhats. “I have created a hip and classy yet casual bistro, where guests can enjoy the best value for fine dining in the area, with warm, friendly service.”

Olhats also plans to offer wine tastings, catering, and private parties in the restaurant. For reservations or more information, please call Brasserie Pascal at (949) 640-2700.
