Man dies after being struck by SUV

A male pedestrian died Monday two days after being struck by a car in Huntington Beach, police announced Tuesday morning.

The man, identified as William Wigfall, 25, of Oakley, was running west across Beach Boulevard south of Cypress Avenue at 12:42 a.m. Saturday when he was hit by an SUV, police said. Police identified the driver as Jinmei Jiang, 37, of Temple City.

Wigfall was treated at the scene and transported to UCI Medical Center, where he died, police said. The driver was not injured, and no charges have been filed.

“Everything is still under investigation now,” Officer Dennis Fulton said.
