Helping those around the world

Congregants at Laguna Presbyterian Church recently completed small group discussions of “The Hole in Our Gospel,” by World Vision CEO Richard Stern.

Sterns argues that the western world is ignoring the growing discrepancy between the wealthiest and poorest people on earth. The average income in America is $105 per day while 2.6 billion people have less than $2 per day, he writes.

In addition, 26,500 children die every day from preventable causes such as hunger, disease and lack of clean water. A recent expo presented 16 options for helping others around the world, from mosquito nets to wheelchairs, through organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and World Vision as well as Laguna Presbyterian’s own outreach programs.
