Betty Joan Benson

Betty Benson died at her Newport Beach home Aug. 30, 2010. She was 78. Born in Los Angeles, she lived the last 46 years in Newport.

While raising three children, she completed a bachelor’s degree from UC Irvine. She traveled abroad extensively.

She is remembered for her care for her family, success as a self-taught stock trader, artwork and value as a good friend. She has been a role model in her ability to fight cancer without complaint.

She is survived by her children Kristine, Brian and Eric; her daughters-in-law: Denise and Anu; son-in-law: Tom; nieces and nephew Tracie, Steven and Erica; and five grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 2, 2010 at Pacific View, Corona del Mar. In lieu of flowers, donate to the Hoag Hospital Foundation, marking it for the Hoag Cancer Center, at P.O. Box 6100, Newport Beach, CA 92658.
