Starting in May, local photographer Jerry Muller’s photographs will be on display at the Newport Beach Public Library’s Central Branch.

Muller, who teaches the History of Comic and Animation Art at UC Irvine, will have two shows — one showcasing his work on California called “The California Years” and another showing his stint shooting celebrities called “Bright Lights and Stardust, Classic Images: Valentino to Monroe,” according to a news release from the library.

“The California Years” covers several decades of work, which has been presented together to the public.

Muller’s portfolio includes a shot of Sen. Barry Goldwater on a yacht during a Balboa Bay Club party and a photo catching Playboy cartoonist Phil Interlandi at work.

“The California Years” will be shown until June. Slides from “Bright Lights and Stardust, Classic Images: Valentino to Monroe” will be presented at 5 p.m. May 9 in the Friends Room.
