Classical musicians to play at Newport library

All who have ever wanted to know how and why the harp harps or flute flutes will soon have their answer.

The Newport Beach Public Library is hosting members of the Debussy Trio — harpist Marcia Dickstein and flutist Angela Wiegand — for a free show for elementary schoolchildren from 11 a.m. to noon Jan. 14 in the Central Library's Friends Meeting Room, 1000 Avocado Ave.

Children will have the chance to ask Dickstein and Wiegand questions and get up close to the instruments after an introduction to the world of music.

The show will feature composers like Mozart and Tchaikovsky, solos from Dickstein and Wiegand, and a talk about how composers, music and instruments relate to art and history.
