Boat reported stolen wasn’t

Newport Beach police responded to a stolen boat call Tuesday.

But they quickly found out the boat wasn’t stolen from a home dock near Morning Star Lane. It was just having work done.

The boat’s owner called police about noon, but police later discovered that the owner forgot about the work being performed, said department spokeswoman Kathy Lowe.

Initial reports were that the boat was being towed.

An area resident reported seeing a police helicopter near Dover Drive and Pacific Coast Highway.
