KCeeG opens pop-up swim shop

Love it or hate it — swimwear season has arrived.

Looking to help women dive into the warm weather months with style, KCeeG Boutique owners Christy Godber and Kelli Genova have launched KCeeG Swimwear at the OC Mart Mix.

The pop-up shop debuts at the alternative shopping hub within the South Coast Collection on Hyland Avenue, on Saturday, with Godber and Genova balancing stocking bikinis while still keeping an eye on KCeeG Boutique, also in the Mix.

The duo are offering a promotion for shoppers where if they buy two bikinis, they can get a third half off. Swimwear brands include Jamaican Style and True Crush in a variety of splashy hues and prints, but the owners plan to add additional labels soon. The mix and match separates start at about $22.

“We’re duplicating what we do at the boutique,” Godber said. “Our look is something a bit more stylish, yet keeping it comfortable, and we also have the more couture lines.”

Godber and Genova said that they hadn’t planned on opening the swim shop so soon after opening the trendy boutique, but recognized opportunity swimming by when a 400-square-foot retail space opened in the Mix across from their current store.

And, for the 1-year-old retail hub, the itty-bitty bikinis add a new dimension to the shopping pool that hadn’t existed before Godber and Genova.

“They’ve filled a void that we absolutely needed filled here and they did it with style,” said Andrea Young, co-owner and operating partner of the OC Mart Mix. “We’ve been searching for the perfect company to complement the [Mix] and we found it.”

While the swimwear shop will likely close after summer, KCeeG Boutique will continue offering sophisticated, contemporary styles, Godber said.

“Our clients, a lot of them are working throughout the day, but like to be able to dress in a way that can take them into a leisure situation,” Godber said. “We like to call it ‘from work to wine.’”

KCeeG carries designs by Yoana Baraschi, Gold Hawk, Plenty by Tracy Reese, Alice & Trixie, Anna Catherine, Stella & Jaimie, Some Days Lovin, Generation Love, Mason by Michelle Mason, Sibilia, DuePunti, Cuffs Couture, Elegantly Waisted Belts by Karen Zambos and Dolce Vita.

“We go after designers that department stores don’t have,” Genova said. “We keep it unique.”

KCeeG Boutique is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
