Huntington Beach police said Tuesday they were questioning a “person of interest” in an overnight stabbing that left one man dead.

Officers responded to a stabbing report at an apartment in the 7800 block of Newman Avenue about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Gary Faust of the Huntington Beach Police Department. The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives identified another man as a person of interest and found him about 3:45 a.m. at another location in Huntington Beach, Faust said. The man, described as an acquaintance of the victim, was being questioned early Tuesday morning.
