7-Eleven opens new Irvine location

7-Eleven celebrates the grand opening of a new location at Sand Canyon Plaza in Irvine on Friday.

The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Chamber of Commerce.

Various entertainment is slated for the day. A deejay will spin Top 40 songs, and visitors can enjoy light refreshments and activities like face-painting. They can also compete in trivia challenges, and win prizes like tumblers, temporary tattoos, T-shirts, gift cards, a bicycle and a TV.

Sand Canyon Plaza, owned and managed by the Irvine Co., is at Sand Canyon Avenue and Irvine Center Drive.
