The man accused of stabbing a Laguna Beach man pleaded not guilty in a Los Angeles courtroom Thursday.

Ryan Taylor Bright, 26, of Santa Monica, pleaded not guilty to one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

On July 11, Bright allegedly stabbed Jensen Gray, 27, multiple times in a Santa Monica apartment. Police arrived around 3 a.m. that morning and Jensen died from his wounds, authorities said.

The two knew each for several years and got into an argument, which ended in the stabbing, Sgt. Richard Lewis of the Santa Monica police department said in an email.

A second victim, a female juvenile, also was injured during the altercation with a single stab wound, he said.

Bright has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 5 at Airport Superior Court in Los Angeles.
