Newport library closes unexpectedly

Newport Beach’s Central Library closed after an unexpected construction issue Friday afternoon, according to a library official.

The library at 1000 Avocado Ave. closed about 2 p.m. and is expected to reopen at noon Saturday, said reference librarian Allen Kesinger.

The nature of the issue was unclear, although it “seems to be an issue that’s easily fixed,” Kesinger said.

None of the other three branches were affected by the closure.
