Adventure hunt comes to Newport for the first time

Share

The Newport Beach Bayside Adventure comes to Balboa Peninsula and Island on Saturday.

This event is the newest installment of CityRace Urban Adventure Hunts, presented by Los Angeles’ Race/LA since 2007 at various Southern California locations.

Teams of two to four members spend three hours solving puzzles, cracking codes and unearthing facts. Traversing through diverse localities, they compete to be the first to provide the most correct answers.

After “Laguna Beach Art Adventure” was introduced to Orange County in early 2012, the next site was selected in response to popular demand, Race/LA founder John Hennessy wrote in an email.

The spring 2013 schedule features a brand-new pitstop in Newport Beach, which begins at 10 a.m. Admission is $40.

“Our primary goal is to give participants a fun and unique experience,” Hennessy said. “However, whether they’ve chosen a hunt in an area they know well or not all, participants also inevitably come away with new discoveries about our local history, culture and communities. You may walk down the same street every day, but walk down that street while you’re doing a CityRace hunt and you’ll start seeing things you’ve never noticed before!”

Other upcoming challenges include the Secrets of Little Tokyo on April 27 and Santa Monica: Pacific Park to the Promenade on April 28.

The next Newport Beach Bayside Adventure will be hosted 10 a.m. July 20.
