Volunteers wanted at senior center

Share

The Costa Mesa City Council is again advertising three vacancies on the Costa Mesa Senior Center’s board of directors, following an incorrect advertisement last month.

The city’s original March 13 notice said those interested in applying for the seats must donate at least $500 annually to the center.

The donation requirement was not on Monday’s notice for the vacancies, each for two-year terms. That rule no longer applies for the council-appointed seats.

The council was scheduled last week to make the appointments, but, after learning of the mistake, decided to advertise the vacancies again.

The board governs the Senior Center at 695 W. 19th. St. Board members “assist the corporation by implementing fundraising strategies with potential supporters such as corporations, individuals and foundations,” according to city staff.

Costa Mesa residency is not required.

To apply, applications are available at https://www.costamesaca.gov/apply or at the city clerk’s office within City Hall, 77 Fair Drive.

Completed forms can be mailed to Costa Mesa City Clerk, P.O. Box 1200, Costa Mesa, CA 92628-1200; faxed to (714) 754-4942; or delivered to the city clerk’s office.

The deadline is 5 p.m. May 21.

For more information, call (714) 754-5327 or email cityclerk@costamesaca.gov.
