Police: Man attacked with baseball bat

A Costa Mesa man was attacked with a metal baseball bat just after midnight Sunday on the porch of his apartment on Harbor Boulevard, authorities said Wednesday.

An unknown male suspect approached the 30-year-old resident of Harbor Villas and began hitting him in the back of the head and neck with the metal bat, said Lt. Greg Scott, spokesman for the Costa Mesa Police Department.

The victim alleges he did not know the suspect, who police describe as a male in his 20s wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and ski mask.

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics but refused to be transported to the hospital, Scott said.
