Robbers restrain couple in home

Share

Two men restrained a Laguna Beach couple before stealing items from their house on Acacia Drive early Saturday, city police said.

The victims were awakened by the two thieves at 12:27 a.m., police Capt. Jason Kravetz wrote in an email. He added that no one was injured and no other people were at the home.

Because the investigation is continuing, police declined to describe what was taken or how the men gained entrance.

Officers searched the house and the surrounding area, but the robbers got away, Kravetz said.

“In all likelihood, the suspects had a head start on fleeing the scene before the victims were able to get loose and leave the home,” he said. “Nothing out of the ordinary has been reported in this neighborhood recently, and detectives are trying to determine why this home was selected by the robbers.”

Technicians from the Orange County Crime Lab worked to gather evidence before the residents were allowed back inside their house about 5 a.m., according to Kravetz.

Police are asking that anyone who saw anything unusual in the area of Acacia or Linden streets, or High and Cypress drives, between 9 p.m. Friday and 12:30 a.m. Saturday

call Det. Julia Bowman at (949) 497-0371 or email her at jbowman@lagunabeachcity.net.
