Linda Lynne Peterson Colton, 66, longtime resident of Corona del Mar passed away peacefully in La Quinta, CA on April 17th, 2014. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Chicago on October 1, 1947 to parents Norman and Ruth Peterson. Linda graduated from Highland high school in Albuquerque and received a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University. In 1975 she married Thomas James Colton and the couple resided in Laguna Beach and relocated to Corona del Mar where they lived for 30 years.

Linda followed her lifelong dream to move to Southern California and began her career in banking at Bank of California in Los Angeles. She relocated to Newport Beach where she worked as a loan officer at Wells Fargo. Linda was deeply devoted to her family and relished spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel the world and will be remembered as a tremendous cook and an ardent sports fan. Linda was an active member of the Assistance League of Newport Mesa and supported many philanthropic organizations. She was especially dedicated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

She is survived by her husband Thomas J. Colton; children: Leanne Heeg and her spouse Patrick Heeg, James Brady Colton and his girlfriend, Kyle McNichols, step-daughter Jennifer Colton and her spouse, Gary Theut; and her grandchildren, Thomas Heeg, Ryan Heeg, Charlotte Theut and Olivia Theut.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 26th at 2:00 at Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary, Corona del Mar.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Linda’s memory be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project: PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675.
