Newport Beach man, 19, identified as body found in Texas lake

The body of a 19-year-old Newport Beach man was recovered from Lake Travis in Texas on Thursday after being missing for more than a week.

Texas Parks & Wildlife Department officials identified him as Jack Elliott, who was a graduate of Corona del Mar High School and a student at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

Elliott is believed to have fallen off a boat near the area of Emerald Point Marina and Devil’s Cove the night of Oct. 14 at the lake in central Texas, near Austin. A group of people he was with noticed he was gone, triggering a search by authorities. His body was found at a depth of 109 feet.

Friends and family members established a fund in Elliott’s memory through Charitable Ventures to raise donations for charities the Elliott family supports.
