A motorcyclist was killed Monday in a collision with another vehicle in Fountain Valley that shut down traffic for hours.

Fountain Valley police responded to a report of the crash at the intersection of Bushard Street and Talbert Avenue just before 11:30 a.m., the Police Department said.

A 24-year-old man riding a 2001 Harley-Davidson Sportster was involved in a collision with a 2019 Chevrolet Trax driven by a 91-year-old Corona man, authorities said.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Orange County coroner’s office identified him Tuesday as Marco Bejarano of Mission Viejo.

After the crash, police diverted student pickups at nearby Fountain Valley High School to locations offsite and shut down traffic in the area for several hours.

Southbound lanes of Bushard and westbound lanes of Talbert near the intersection reopened to traffic at about 3:15 p.m., police said.

The Chevrolet driver was questioned at the scene and released, police said. Drugs or alcohol are not considered factors in the crash, according to authorities.

“At this point we don’t know who is at fault,” police Lt. Kham Vang said. The investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Fountain Valley Police Department at (714) 593-4481.
